Stove fitter

What they do:

Stove fitters are skilled in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of all types of stoves, warm-air heating systems, open fireplaces, built-in hearths, and pizza ovens. This profession combines creative craftsmanship with solid technical expertise. In building stoves, stove fitters apply their knowledge of combustion processes and heat transfer, while also paying close attention to the aesthetic and functional design of each project.

After discussing requirements with the client and performing thermal calculations, they design and draft the stove project. For construction, they use materials such as slate tiles, refractory clay, majolica, common clay, and lime. They work with traditional hand tools — such as trowels, levels, measuring tapes, grinders, and hammers — and usually operate independently, often travelling to clients’ sites for installation work.
