Refrigeration and air conditioning

What they do:

Refrigeration and air conditioning technicians are responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation systems, as well as heat pump and heat recovery systems. They work across a wide range of sectors — from industry and hospitality to commerce, transport, sports facilities, and public and private buildings. Their duties include assembling refrigerant pipelines, installing insulation, and connecting electrical and data wiring, as well as integrating safety, control, and regulation devices.

They also inspect, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical components, ensuring that all systems function efficiently and safely. Technicians operate in accordance with national and European regulations, selecting materials, components, and refrigerants based on safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. They plan and coordinate work processes, record tasks, monitor time, materials, and costs, and calculate the services provided. They work independently or as part of a team, taking full responsibility for completing assignments effectively and meeting customer requirements.

Their work also involves final testing and quality assurance of completed systems.
