Carpentry
What they do:
Carpenters build wooden constructions and structures of all kinds. They manufacture roof frameworks, stairs, ceilings, wall claddings, floors, and formwork for concrete components. They also produce prefabricated house elements, assemble them on site, and insulate them with thermal, acoustic, or fireproof panels. Carpenters read technical plans, calculate material requirements, and set up construction sites. They cut, shape, and assemble wooden parts using nails, screws, or traditional joints. They work in workshops and on construction sites, often in collaboration with colleagues, specialists, and other building professionals.
Carpenters perform their tasks independently or in teams, following technical documentation and work orders. They plan, coordinate, and document the various work phases, record materials, time, and costs, and ensure the quality of the work performed. They are also responsible for site organisation, safety, and environmental protection, implementing corrective measures if necessary.
