Landscape gardening
What they do:
Landscape gardeners are responsible for the construction, redesign, and maintenance of outdoor spaces of all kinds — from private gardens to public parks — and play an important role in nature conservation and environmental protection. Their work includes planning, consultation, and practical implementation of landscape projects. They design and build private gardens, public green areas, parks, cemeteries, sports and playgrounds, as well as water features, paths, terraces, and stairways. They also work on roof and façade greening, tree nurseries, outdoor plant production, and provide plant care advice and pest management services to clients.
Landscape gardeners work mainly outdoors, sometimes in greenhouses or nurseries. They measure and prepare sites, use specialised tools and machinery for landscaping, and perform a wide range of activities — from planning and design to maintenance, pruning, and stonework such as dry walls. This profession combines technical knowledge, craftsmanship, teamwork, and creativity in shaping natural spaces. Its variety allows professionals to specialise according to their interests and strengths, making it an ideal career for those who enjoy working outdoors and being close to nature.
